Join our Sixth Form & Leadership Centre and ‘Be What Tomorrow Needs’ – we can support students with progression pathways at all levels after Year 11. Sixth Form & Leadership Centre – Post 16 Open Evening for September 2019 start will be on Wednesday 21st November 2017 5.30 – 8pm There is a Sixth Form Open Evening once each year in the autumn term when all Yr 11 students are very welcome – from St Mary’s or other schools. The evening comprises of a short presentation in the Main Hall and the opportunity to visit different subject areas to talk to staff about courses, student options and how St Mary’s can support next steps and career aspirations. Come and see us – we really do have something for every learner who wants to study post 16! Yr 11 students and their parents/carers are invited to apply now for a place in the Sixth Form & Leadership Centre to start in September 2019. Applications are welcome from students who are already enrolled at St Mary’s and those from other schools. Our Sixth Form & Leadership Centre offers an inspirational and distinctive post 16 learning experience that builds on prior learning and provides learning pathways to support progression to university, training or employment. St Mary’s provides courses that meet the needs of the all students who wish to access high quality post 16 learning. To support our course offer for all pathways, there is an extensive programme of academic support for preparation of UCAS, Apprenticeship, employment and Oxbridge applications, as well as work to develop high quality curriculum vitae and interview preparation. Over the past five years, all of our post 16 students have successfully progressed from St Mary’s into the next step of their chosen career pathway. The Post 16 Tutor Team and Academic Mentor meet with students regularly to discuss academic progress, career aspirations and progression pathways and ensure that students are on track to achieve their aspirational targets. Course teachers assess student progress and attainment continuously and data is sent home to parents/carers each half term. Unique features of our Sixth Form & Leadership Centre include Professional Learning Placements that provide the opportunity to work in business/industry. A range of Academy Programmes is being developed at St Mary’s to provide students with opportunities to participate in a chosen specialist field to an elite level and to gain high quality experience and accreditation.
