Khalo inspired Year 7 Portraiture

Year 7 students have been developing their portrait and self-portrait drawing skills through the study of Frida Kahlo. As part of their art exam, students completed a self-portrait, drawing inspiration from Kahlo’s distinctive style and approach to self-expression.

Working with pencil and a range of mixed media, including ink, textural papers, and coloured pencils, students focused on improving their ability to draw facial features accurately while exploring scale, proportion, and composition. The project encouraged careful observation, creativity, and experimentation with different materials, resulting in a diverse collection of thoughtful and expressive self-portraits.

This is the excellent work of Theodora in year 7. Well done.
