Students wishing to continue their education after Year 11 may apply to become a member of the Sixth Form & Leadership Centre.
St Mary’s High School offers students an opportunity to select from a very broad range of courses offered for study at post 16. Most of these courses will be level 3 (A level) although there are a number of level 2 courses available.
The courses offered from year to year may alter slightly dependent upon student demand, staff expertise and availability of resources. Please go to Teaching & Learning Area pages (click on links on the left hand side of the page) for information about the courses currently offered.

STUDENTS WILL NEED
Students will need 5 GCSE grades at C/Pass including ICT at level 2.

Unit 1: Exploring Business (90 GLH) Assignment – set and marked internally
Unit 2: Developing a Marketing Campaign (90 GLH) Task – set and marked by Pearson
Unit 3: Personal & Business Finance (120 GLH) Written exam – set and marked by Pearson
Unit 8: Recruitment and Selection (60 GLH) Assignment – set and marked internally
The new BTEC Nationals in Business use a combination of assessment styles to give students confidence so they can apply their knowledge to succeed in the workplace and have the study skills to continue learning throughout their career.
This range of vocational assessments, both practical and written, enable students to showcase their learning and skills to best effect when they take their next step, whether that’s supporting applications to higher education courses or to potential employers.
