Learning Pathways
The information below summarises the three pathways that are available for sixth form students and the courses to which students will have access for each pathway. Please note that reference will be made to the subject specific criteria for each course when confirming course selection.
Academic Pathway
Suitable for high achieving students who are looking for professional occupations that require a degree / A levels and a higher level of academic achievement.
This would include students considering universities that include Oxbridge and Russell Group universities as well as Advanced, Higher or Degree Apprenticeships.
Students on this pathway will study three of four A level qualifications.
Recommended Entry Requirements*
*Entry: 8 or more GCSE grades 9-4, including English and Maths at grade 5+.
Professional Pathway
Suitable for students who are looking for professional occupations that may not require a degree but still need a higher level of academic achievement.
This would include students considering universities and Advanced, Higher or Degree Apprenticeships, Students on this pathway will study a combination of Level 3 Vocational qualifications and an appropriate A level.
Students can also resit GCSE Maths or English on this pathway
Recommended Entry requirements*
*Entry: 4-7 GCSE grades 9-4, including English and/or Maths at grade 4+.
Foundation Pathway
Suitable for students who are looking to secure their L2 qualifications before moving on to L3 study. Intermediate Apprenticeship or further education.
Students on this pathway will study specialist Level 2 qualifications as part of a personalised study programme.
Students can also resit GCSE Maths and/or English on this pathway.
Recommended Entry requirements*
*Entry: At least 1 GCSE/Level 2 qualification at grade 9-4
