ASE Football Academy
St Mary’s has a number of Post 16 Academy Programmes that provide opportunities for Post 16 students to participate in high quality programmes and gain experience in a range of specific subjects to support career aspirations or leisure interests. (Please see the relevant website pages for more information about each Academy programme).
St Mary’s ASE Football Academy
Students in Years 7 to 11 access parts of Academy programmes to support their aspirations and career pathways as well as provide challenge and extension activities.
St Mary’s High School, in partnership with ASE Sports Group (www.asesportsgroup.com) have formed St Mary’s ASE Football Academy which provides a unique opportunity for post 16 students to combine academic study with an elite football programme. Students follow a personalised programme of academic study whilst receiving specialist team and individual football coaching. This means that Academy players can pursue football to the highest possible level whilst preparing for their future careers.
Post 16 students interested in pursuing an interest or career in football can access the ASE Football Academy programme whose lead coach is Jhovan Bruce. Post 16 students have to balance their academic studies with their Academy skills training and can only remain part of the Academy programme if they study well, uphold the high standards expected of them and mentor and guide the younger students of St Mary’s.
The Football Academy provides opportunities for students to train with a professional coach and participate in local and national league competitions. The Academy students train regularly throughout each week and students will have access to coaching and refereeing qualifications.
Although based at St Mary’s, all home matches are played on a local brand new 4G AstroTurf pitch.
Please refer to the Sixth Form Brochure for more details about Post 16 education at St Mary’s.
